I Am Poem
I am…
Oklahoma, Missouri, and
Kansas all in one person.
A little boy on a stick
horse, riding around the house.
A never leave my mother’s
side type kid.
Cuddling on the couch
during long winter days, with lots of blankets.
Long road trips to Kansas
every weekend.
An excited kid, ready to
see his father after a four hour drive.
I am…
Caring when someone needs
to be cared for or when others need help.
Mad when I get pushed too
far.
Sad when something gets
to me and starts to hurt.
Happy when everything is
good.
Loving when I need love
and when someone else needs love.
I am…
A kid in football pads,
waiting to give my all for the sport I love.
An athlete trying to be
active all the time.
Waking up at 6 working
out, grinding to make dreams come true.
Blood, sweat, and tears
on Friday nights.
I am…
Walking the dirt roads in
the country with my sister.
Waking up at 5 in the
morning to go fishing with my mom.
Riding dirt bikes and
four wheelers and horses.
Getting dirty and working
in the heat of the day and feeling accomplished after.
I am…
Getting older and wiser
everyday
Discovering new things
about life.
Making myself into an
adult.
Growing up.
Ready to start living
life by my own rules and responsibilities.
I am Jacob Darrah.
I really enjoyed this, Jacob. I like that you are so close to your mom and hope my little boy would say he is a "never leave my mother's side type kid" too. I can relate to your memories of walking dirt roads and riding horses from my time at my grandparents' house growing up. I also like the line about working hard in the heat of the day and feeling good about it. I'm sure your dad would be so proud of the man you're becoming. Thanks, Jacob.
ReplyDeleteJacob,
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you go fishing I love it too! Where do you like to go fishing the most? Awesome poem.

Hi Jacob! I read your "I am Poem". I can relate to you on some occasions. I have family in Kansas, so I take plenty of weekend trips to see them. I also wake up early in the mornings on most weekdays to play racquetball with my dad. I like the line where you said "I am discovering new things about life". That is almost always true in everyone's life, the only problem is that they ignore the urge to want to discover those things.Because of that, it will not benefit them in any way. It is a wonderful poem, Jacob.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jacob,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your poem! I liked how you wrote about how you feel in different situations. I can relate to "cuddling of the couch during long winter days, with lots of blankets." Being inside with blankets and a hot chocolate is the absolute best way to spend a cold, winter day. I also think it is amazing that you work so hard at football that you are willing to get up at six every morning to work out. It is simply hard enough to wake up for school that I can't imagine having to work out before school. Amazing poem, Jacob!
